We believe strongly in quality, passion and craftsmanship, all of which are showcased in our series of Makers Bibles, profiles of makers and crafted brands across the world whose work is their life. So far, we have researched, editorial-directed, and produced three editions, of the larger bibles (in English) that feature crafter and maker brands from around the World, dedicated to a certain topic. The more compact series of books are guides to makers & crafters, hosts and dedicated retailers in certain regions of touristic interest. These guides of “Handgemachte Qualität” are published in German. They lead to people, not to sights.
The Makers Bible books, website and social media act as a shop window for the Melville ethos - the books are as painstakingly crafted, and lovingly presented, as any of the artisanal products you’ll find inside. The imagery in photography and video are largely done in-house.
Even in the field of manufacturing there are bigger and World-famous brands whose products are manufactured to a large degree by hand, still. Also these brands have relevant stories to tell and Makers Bible is the credible media to stage these stories.
In the course of our project, we have worked with well-sounding brands, to our mutual satisfaction. Leica Cameras, A. Lange & Söhne, Van Berkel International, Neff, bulthaup, Mercedes Benz G-Class, Axor Design, Polestar, ClassiCon to name a few.
With our background as commercial branding experts and as experienced editorial designers (online and offline) we are able to set coop partners into the right light, telling their stories to be repeated by the strongest medium there is: Word-of-mouth. We call those stories campfire tales.
Our journal digs deeper and tells stories adjacent to the stories one finds in our books. Here we present also a curated selection of makers' products, we, the editors of Makers Bible have tested or tasted and therefore recommend. makersbible.com carries maker’s stories regardless of the theme of the actual book.
